Soqotra has a rich tradition of performing arts including music, song, drumming, dance and theatre as well as the renowned poetry contests. A flavour of these traditions is posted here.
Actors
In Qalansiyah there are a group of talented actors who form part of the Qalansiyah Culture and Heritage Association. These men perform a number of short plays, dealing with themes related to past traditions and often use these plays to focus attention on how changing social values are affecting traditional practices on the island.
